San Diegos top brunch spot! A review with San Diego Mommy Blogger Tribe
I’m a sucker for a good brunch spot…and especially if its kid free…yes please!!! The San Diego Mommy Blogger Tribe got together for a little brunch networking event. We had the opportunity to try all the yummy things Breakfast Republic had to offer, and I can’t wait to share my review!
Breakfast Republic now has 8 locations, 7 in San Diego and now they newly added a location in Irvine. Breakfast Republic is one of the top brunch spots in San Diego. Besides the traditional breakfast items of Benedicts, scrambles, pancakes, and French toast they have their specials such as Turkey meatloaf hash, breakfast Mac & cheese, breakfast hot dogs, just to name a few! If you are vegan they also have special menu items for you as well!
If specialty drinks are more of your thing they have 5 different types of Bloody Mary’s, breakfast cocktails, mimosas, kombucha, lattes, coffee, and more! SO many yummy options! IF you are a fan of their Bloody Mary mix they also sell that to go! Something that really stuck out to me on their drink menu was their adaptogenic antioxidant shots. They have 3 different types of shots, one is a detox shot, one is a cellular cleanse, and the other is a immune support shot. Each of them are loaded with so many great vitamins and minerals.
I was in love with the vibe in this place. They have witty quotes throughout the restaurant. Our table said
“BRUNCH: the socially acceptable excuse for day drinking.”
Coudn’t agree more! Day drinking is my jam!
The bathroom decor was pretty cool as well. The bathroom mirrors were a mans sunglasses. Kinda cool!
The sinks were concrete basins that contained the quote
“There are two rules for success: 1. Never tell everything you know.”
OK! now onto the best part…. THE FOOOOD! I’m a sucker for good food and brunch is like my favorite meal of the day! So my breakfast go to is usually eggs benedict. I usually gravitate straight to them! Not every place does eggs Benedicts good. I’ve been to my fair share of restaurants where they slacked in the eggs benny department. Breakfast republic had them down! I ordered the San Diego Benedict. All their Benedicts are made with sourdough English muffins. The San Diego consisted of two poached eggs, turkey, avocado, cilantro, and of course topped with a gluten-free hollandaise sauce. The eggs were perfectly poached, the avocados were perfectly ripe, the cilantro added a yummy flavor, and the hollandaise sauce was very flavorful. I would totally recommend this dish!
If you wanted to upgrade your potatoes for a yummy kick I recommend it! The upgrade consists of brussel sprouts, potatoes, bacon, onion, parmesan, and drizzled with a balsamic reduction. These potatoes were so delish and I kinda felt like I was being healthy-is because it had Brussel sprouts… I had to get some sort of vegetables in…even if they were drenched in bacon!
Service here was great, we were seated immediately. Although we attended on a Monday the restaurant was still pretty full. It tends to get crowded during the weekend brunch times, and the wait times can get a little long. I recommend making a reservation, or enjoy a cocktail or two at the bar while you wait to be seated! The restaurant is very kid friendly, I highly recommend it for a family brunch spot, or even an adults only get away!
Have you ever been to Breakfast Republic!? What is your go-to brunch item!?
